About Us

We are not a tour company, nor do leaders receive remuneration. We are a network wishing to offer others opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, and experiences of desert and wilderness. Leaders have clocked up many kilometres journeying in the various deserts of Australia and in other wilderness areas. They bring wide experience in team leadership, community engagement and reflection in many contexts, local and national.

Here is a little more about each of us...

Tony Davies, currently the Mission Development Officer in the Riverina of NSW, has live and ministered in remote areas for 12 years, including Central Australia. Husband to Heather and father of 2, Tony loves the stillness of the desert. It's a place of reflection and regneration for him; a place to speak and listen to the 'still, small voice of God'.

Dean Drayton, President of the Uniting Church in Australia till July 2006 and former geologist in the Simpson Desert. Husband to Sandra, a father and grandfather, Dean was a geophysicist and is currently vice principal at United Theological College, North Parramatta.
“ As I look back over the last fifty years I know that some of my formative experiences were as a geologist sitting under the stars in the Simpson Desert, gasping at the enormity of it all and my smallness. The big issues cannot be evaded here. Here one can be found by the God of creation, and the God of redemption.”
Sue Kaldor (left), married to Peter, and a mother of three, is a community worker, counselor and social worker with experience in many different types of communities. She is a workshop and retreat leader and founder of Living Well, Blue Mountains.

She loves the outdoors, and assisting the local scout group with many of their activities. With her partner Gary, she loves leading journeys to places of significance.
